30% of Celebrations Occur In The Fall! Will Yours?
Did you know:
- That September is the most popular month for weddings? 14% of couples choose this month for their wedding day.
- October is the third most popular month for weddings. 12% of couples select October for their wedding day.
- 6% of weddings take place in November.
So if fall is your inclination for your gay wedding, commitment ceremony, civil union, or domestic partnership celebration...your in good company. And here's some tips for planning your same-sex celebration.
- Do let the chill kill! While the temperature may drop, you can still have an outdoor wedding. Line up plenty of outdoor heaters, start the festivities early in the day, and have and assortment of warm beverages available for your guests - both alcholic and non-alcholic.
- Orange, Yellow, and Brown are nice but do they excite? Just because the colors of the season evoke a certain picture, doesn't mean your celebration requires you stay on the palate. To make your color scheme align with the season, pick shades that are slightly to the right or left of the traditional color palate and compliment them with cool hues of blues, reds, greens, aquas against traditional fall colors. The little sparkle of a spring color against a fall color palate is the key.
- Fall Transition destinations make the perfect back drop. Fall weather in locations like Palm Springs, the Colorado Rockies, or anywhere along the Eastern Seaboard where leaves are changing, make the perfect outdoor back drop. And, because many of these locations are transitioning from the hub-bub of summer vactioners and preparing for winter sports enthusiasts or snowbirds, you may find some great bargains on accomodations, venue rentals, just about everything.
- Pumpkin Spiced Ahi...Not! Don't feel compelled to bring in seasonal Fall flavors into your reception dinner or appetizers. However, think about the bounty of the harvest and the wide variety of foods that could be incorporated in your menu selections. Get personal with your chef who's handling your event and ask them for their recommendations for bring the fall bouty into the mix...just remember, you want your guests to enjoy the food as much as you will (that's if you even get or take the chance to eat!).
- Follow The Fashion But Be True To Yourself. Nothing's worse than being cold. So choose your celebration attire wisely for your Fall event. Consider the fabrics for your attire to ensure that you won't be overly cold...inside or out. If you really want silks or linens in your look, they can still be a great choice, just find a color pallette that will help bring the warmth in through the fabric. But mostly, stay away from light airy fabrics that are sure to send a chill down your spine and those in your wedding party.
- Coat Check Please! Because Fall can be a dicey weather period, it is highly recommended that you have a coat check available at your ceremony location as well as the reception. Nothing is more uncomfortable for you and your guests than having to carry around that heavy winter wool coat at a posh event.
